China-Europe Railway Express releases positive signals on foreign trade

The cumulative number of China-Europe Railway Express(CRE) has reached 10,000 trips this year. Industry analysts believe that, at present, the external environment is complex and severe, and the impact of weakening external demand on China’s foreign trade is still continuing, but the stable growth of the CR Express and the number of shipments has released a positive signal of foreign trade, showing the strong resilience of China’s economy from one side.

The person in charge of the freight department of the National Railway Group introduced that after the smooth turn of the epidemic prevention and control, the quality of China’s foreign trade import and export has been steadily improved, and the demand for cross-border cargo transportation is strong. The China-European liner has the advantages of all-weather, large capacity, green low-carbon, smooth and safe, and is favoured by customers along the route.

The transport time of CR Express has obvious advantages over that of maritime transport. The railway department have optimized the organization of CRE services, flexibly adjusted the operation process, strengthened equipment and facilities, and given priority to CRE in transportation, loading and hanging. The new two-way line from Chengdu to Poland Lodz, and the return line from Germany Duisburg to Xi’an are all timetabled for China-European trains, and the running time is compressed by more than 5 days.

This year is the 10th anniversary of the “Belt and Road” initiative. Ni Yueju, a researcher at the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, believes that the running of 10,000 CRE trips this year shows that against the backdrop of weak growth in international trade, China’s trade with countries along the “Belt and Road” is still strong, economic and trade relations are increasingly connected through the CRE, and the resilience continues to strengthen. At the same time, it also reflects the upgrading of the trade structure between China and the countries along the “Belt and Road”. Although the cost is higher than that of shipping, the CRE is welcomed by enterprises producing high-value products because of its time-saving advantage.
