China’s independent innovation capacity is increasing
On October 24, the State Council Information Office held a press conference in Beijing to introduce the 2nd Global Digital Trade Expo, in which Wang Shouwen, representative and vice minister of international trade negotiations of the Ministry of Commerce, said that cross-border e-commerce accounted for 5% of China’s import and export of trade in goods in 2022, up from 1% in 2015.
From January to September this year, the import and export value of cross-border e-commerce amounted to 1.7 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.4 percent, accounting for 5.5 percent of the proportion of import and export of trade in goods in the same period. The trading partners of China’s cross-border e-commerce have covered the world, and it is one of the countries with the most complete cross-border e-commerce ecosystem in the world.
He introduced that digital trade can be simply divided into two parts, one is the mode of trade characterized by digital delivery, the object of trade is data. The second is a mode of trade characterized by digital ordering, where usually cross-border e-commerce trades in goods, which are realized through digital ordering.
The development of China’s digital trade has achieved better results, which are also reflected in the continuous consolidation of the industrial foundation, the rapid development of digital technology and the increasingly rich application scenarios.
China’s independent innovation capacity to support the emerging technologies of digital trade is increasing. Wang Shouwen said that in the global innovation index ranking released by the World Intellectual Property Organization, China’s comprehensive ranking of innovation capacity in 2023 will be the 11th in the world. Our country’s invention patent authorization in the field of artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and quantum information ranks first in the world.
