l 1960s – 1970s

Then, resistive touch sensors were invented by Dr. G. Samuel Hurst in 1971, when he was a lecturer at the University of Kentucky. The sensor, named “Elograph,” was patented by the University of Kentucky Research Foundation. “Elograph”, while not as transparent as modern touch screens, was a major milestone in the development of touch screen technology.

Meanwhile, multi-touch function originated in the 1970s. CERN has been used this multi-touch technology since 1976. However, due to the immature technology, the early touch control technology used the method of controlling resistance, so that it must be used with greater force.

l 1980s – 2000s

In 1986 the first POS software was used on a 16-bit computer which combined color touch display interface. After that, touch screen technology have been incorporating into Smartphone and PDA since the 1990s.

In the early 21st century , Microsoft launched the Windows XP Tablet PC, and began to enter the touch technology field in 2002.

With the increasing maturity of industrial science, touch technology combined with smartphone software is gradually applied to our lives. In 2007, Apple announced the first-generation iPhone, the strongest ever product among touch screen smartphones.
